Speciality Restaurants Ltd. is the name of a grand and passionate journey of flavours, unraveling authentic cuisines and sharing them with the world. It started as a tiny restaurant created by a bunch of foodies for some more foodie friends and even after 129 renowned restaurants and confectionaries and eight award winning cuisines, we are proud to say it still remains a Restaurant Group by the foodies, to the foodies and for the foodies.

Because at the heart of the group lies the passion of Anjan Chatterjee, and his weakness for good food that turned into a great strength for Speciality Restaurants! He started Only Fish in 1992 with the nostalgic flavours of Calcutta, in the fast lane of Mumbai. The forty by forty square feet crowded dining place drew gourmets and food critics alike with the unique flavours of Calcutta. Anjan Chatterjee realized the dearth of speciality cuisines and wanted to make good the lack of authentic flavours in the stand-alone.

From a crowded dining place to fine dining destination was a leap of faith, passion and grit. Speciality Restaurants Group had two flagship brands, Oh! Calcutta and Mainland China by 1994. In May 2012 , Speciality Restaurants Ltd. made another accomplishment with a successful Initial Public Offer (IPO) in a very challenging economic environment and thus became the first and only public listed company in the stand-alone fine dining restaurant category in the country. As a feather in its cap, Speciality Restaurants Ltd. has just completed 25 years of its journey.

In 2014, it had India’s largest fine dining chain of restaurants with its flagship brand being Mainland China and Oh! Calcutta. It further ventured into the all-day casual dining segment with multiple brands like Café Mezzuna and Asia Kitchen by Mainland China. Among the new and raring concepts, Sigree Global Grill brings convergence of different grill styles in a live cooking format while Sigree is a rare culmination of selective Indian cuisine mildly spiced and cooked on slow fire – simplicity being the essence. In its 25 years, Speciality Restaurants Ltd. has also created hugely popular brands with diverse offerings like Hoppipola and Sweet Bengal, among others. Through the passage of time, came newer, engaging and more modernized blends of Asian and Oriental cuisine in our restaurants such as POH – Progressive Oriental House and Gong - offering an exquisite experience like never before.

The best part of the story is yet to come – it is going global, having already opened outlets in UAE (Dubai), Tanzania (Dar-E-Salam) and pushing boundaries in UK (London) and Singapore. What really drives everyone responsible for the continuing success though, is rather simple. A love for food.
