Chegg, an education company gets hacked with 40 million student data. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) files lawsuit against Chegg, which has experienced four data breaches in 3 years.
Hackers gained access to company databases, exposing personal information such as names, email addresses, and passwords in addition to students’ religion, sexual orientation, disabilities, and parents’ income. The stolen data landed on the dark web.
Carelessless. Chegg didn’t even have a cybersecurity policy and failed to provide sufficient cybersecurity training to its employees.
