On September 7, 2023, United Healthcare Services, Inc. (“UHS”) filed a notice of data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS-OCR”). Typically, companies are required to notify the HHS-OCR of any data breach involving the protected health information (“PHI”) of at least 500 people. So, while the exact data types leaked in the UHS breach have not yet been confirmed, it appears likely the incident affected patients’ PHI….
